Man who changed name by deed poll is caught after 10 years on the run
A former St. Petersburg ( Florida) doctor who was on the run for more than 10 years was caught in Morocco.
58-year-old Rory Patrick Doyle was first arrested in 2000, charged with child molestation that allegedly took place between 1994 and 2000.
While awaiting trial in 2001, Doyle fled the country.
He was arrested by police in Tangier, Morocco almost a year ago and on Thursday, U.S. Marshals took custody of him, bringing him back to Florida to face charges.
Investigators believe Doyle had been living in Tangier for about a year before his arrest. In 2004, investigators say Doyle legally changed his name to David West by deed poll in Ireland in an attempt to elude law enforcement in the United States.
He was arrested in Ireland in 2006 and while fighting extradition, again fled the country. He was eventually tracked down living in Morocco under the alias David West.
